While Contractors work to reconstruct the roadway at the base of the 51st Street Bridge, a complete closure between Harborside and Broadway will be required. The lanes are estimated to be closed to through access from 8 am on Monday, March 12th to 7 pm on Thursday, March 22nd.

The construction company managing the project, Lucas Construction, will be placing signage throughout the project area to warn drivers of the upcoming closure, to include a flashing message board on both Harborside and Broadway.

For drivers traveling west on Harborside towards I-45, 51st Street is the last access from Harborside to Broadway. Drivers will need to use 37th Street as their alternative and detour signage will be placed to remind drivers of the change.

More information is available on www.galvestontx.gov Thank you for your patience as we continue to make progress across the Island!
